Coaching is a new form of learning and teaching. It is primarily based on the Socratic approach to education, which places strong emphasis on questioning as a means of inquiry. The role of the coach is to support the client in finding the answers to the questions put forth.

Believing in the value of renewing learning and teaching approaches and working to provide new and distinctive knowledge and skills, ILLAFTrain UAE concluded the course of the Certified Coach Diploma in the city of Al Ain, UAE, which was presented from January 18 to January 23, 2023, under the eminent direction of the Consultant Trainer Dr. Mohammed Pedra and the Expert Trainer Mr. Majed bin Afif.

The course began by presenting the coaching fundamentals. These include awareness, self-belief, responsibility, decision-making, taking necessary actions, focusing on solutions, and other topics like setting boundaries and goals, assisting others in realizing their aspirations, and fulfilling their requirements.

This was followed by an explanation of the four-step coaching map and clarifying the activities involved in each step.

The Four-Step Coaching Map:

The benefit of this step can only be realized through effective communication, which is at the heart of the coaching process. This was achieved through interactions between the trainees, questions and discussions that took place during the training event's sessions, as well as by discussing the following steps:

  • Build necessary Rapport for Coaching, by creating a welcoming environment for them and the coaches and employing a variety of techniques that enables them to start the genuine growth process without the coach's guidance and instead by figuring out what they want.

  • Assigning goals and assembling plans. The coach is essential to this step as the client's teacher and motivator. The client keeps up with the planning process as they advance towards their goals.

  • Help the client who is stuck, through the role of the coach in monitoring the client's progress, and identifying the strategies and barriers to it. This way, the coach can work to improve the client's satisfaction rate, remove barriers to progress, assist in achieving goals, and celebrate these successes.

  • Measuring coaching results by sharing them with the coach and the client. The client's progress and ROI are assessed during this step, along with establishing a development plan for measurement and self-assessment.

The participants deserve the title of coach only when they put the aforementioned four steps into practice

The most distinguishing aspect of this course is the practical application of the theoretical knowledge that the trainees learn through the transfer of theoretical skills and knowledge on the ground that each trainee first assumes the role of the coach before switching to be the client. At this stage of practical application, the mechanism of holding coaching agreements has been identified and authorized by both parties represented by the coach and the client. The development was tangible for all trainees during the training event's days.

At the end of the course, Dr. Mohammed Pedra and Mr. Majed bin Afif concentrated on the fact that the title of the coach printed on the certificate is merely ink on paper, whereas the real coach is someone who is capable of effectively and genuinely assisting others by helping them develop their businesses, improve their way of thinking, improve their lives on various levels, and assist others in making good decisions. A true coach can therefore help others reach their full potential.

The course was concluded and certificates were distributed to the trainees, in this upbeat environment.

Participants' Feedback:

The course was quite good; we learned about coaching tools, but the practical application was the most crucial component. In fact, the applications were extremely helpful because we took the time to fully understand each of the coaching tools.

The success of the client is your success, and this course marks a fresh beginning in the coaching industry.
