Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - 2023-10-03
The United Arab Emirates has quietly built one of the most compelling success stories in human capital development over the past few decades. It is a place where growth is not left to chance but intentionally cultivated.
Reinforcing this vision, ILLAFTrain UAE successfully concluded its Effective Learning Skills Course in Abu Dhabi on October 2–3, 2023, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Pension Fund.
Venue and Timing
Right in the heart of Abu Dhabi, the course came to life at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel, a venue that feels less like a conference space and more like a stage for meaningful transformation. In collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Pension Fund, the course brought together employees from one of the emirate’s most influential institutions, those shaping its economic backbone.
The environment was not just comfortable. It was intentional. Every detail supported the core idea that learning thrives when people feel both challenged and inspired.
Course Trainer
“Mastery in work is an act of devotion.”
This belief set the tone for the entire experience, led by Certified Expert Trainer Sumaya AlShimmari. She approached learning like a craftsman shaping raw material into something refined and purposeful.
Her message was clear. Everyone in the room already carries untapped potential. The real shift happens when individuals move from simply performing well to operating at a level of true mastery. That transition requires intention, discipline, and a willingness to see everyday tasks as opportunities to sharpen one’s edge.
Participants’ Perspective
“Enjoying learning is like an endless road trip. Every lesson opens up a new route.”
One participant captured the spirit of the course in a way that resonated across the room. Learning, as it unfolded here, was not confined to slides or frameworks. It became a lens through which participants could reinterpret their daily experiences.
The group itself brought a distinct energy. There was a shared drive to improve, to stretch beyond comfort zones, and to elevate both personal and professional performance. It was not about individual ambition alone. It felt more like a collective momentum, as if everyone had agreed to raise the bar together.
Training Content
“Not just material to absorb, but tools that evolve with you.”
The course content was designed with one central idea in mind. The individual sits at the center of the learning process. Everything else revolves around that.
Participants explored how to uncover their strengths, identify what slows them down, and apply practical thinking strategies that translate directly into better performance.
Key units included:
Self-Awareness Unit
- Recognizing strengths to accelerate the learning process.
- Identifying challenges that hinder goal achievement.
- Understanding the brain’s capabilities and how to leverage them to enhance learning speed.
Time and Task Management Unit
- Organizing weekly tasks using the Eisenhower Matrix.
- Applying the “Elephant Rule” to manage large and complex tasks.
- Using the Pareto Principle to focus on high-impact activities.
- Implementing the Pomodoro Technique to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Course Atmosphere
“The passion for learning is the light that shows you where to go next.”
This was not a room full of passive listeners. It felt more like a live exchange of ideas, where energy moved in every direction. The course blended structured delivery with moments of reflection, creating space for participants to connect concepts to their own realities.
Topics such as career direction, confidence-building, and performance improvement were not treated as abstract ideas. They were explored through hands-on activities that made the learning tangible.
By the end, participants shared a common reaction. They had absorbed an impressive amount of insight in what felt like no time at all. Two days passed quickly, yet the impact felt anything but short-lived.
Before the Closing
“Participants’ feedback reflects the true quality and impact of the course.”
Just before the closing, participants were invited to share their reflections on camera. These moments were not scripted. They were genuine expressions of what the experience meant to them, offering a clear window into the course’s impact.
Closing Moments
“A strong start to something bigger.”
The final moments carried a different kind of energy. Trainer Sumaya AlShimmari delivered a closing message that felt like a call to action. Participants were encouraged to step forward with greater confidence, sharper skills, and a clearer sense of direction.
Then came an unexpected twist. Certificates were distributed in a way that required participants to find and personally hand them to one another. A simple exercise, yet it reinforced connection, collaboration, and the idea that success is rarely a solo act.
Finally…
As the event came to a close, Mr. Majed Bin Afif, General Manager of ILLAFTrain UAE, expressed his appreciation to the Abu Dhabi Pension Fund. In an atmosphere filled with pride and achievement, certificates were distributed, and memorable photos were taken.
The course closed as a defining milestone in each participant’s personal and professional journey. What they gained goes far beyond concepts and frameworks. It is a practical toolkit they can carry into their daily lives. With these skills in motion, participants are now equipped to create real impact within their environments and to play an active role in shaping a more dynamic and prosperous society.
